Professional employer organizations offer a broad suite of services to their customers that frequently extend into multiple domains that include HR, benefits & payroll; safety & risk and regulatory compliance; financial security and retirement vehicles; among other areas. As such, PEOs are well positioned to help accelerate numerous health equity initiatives across their diverse service areas. This presentation will focus on health equity as it relates primarily to health and benefits plans covered by ERISA—but will also touch briefly on how social determinants can be impacted through other service areas provided by the PEO. This may be as simple as giving thoughtful consideration to the structure of an STD benefit or elimination period; or offering an optional socially responsible investment vehicle.
